vinaigrette story in albuquerque local flavor

Great story about Erin Wade and the new Vinaigrette in Albuquerque in the Albuquerque Local Flavor magazine, February 2013 issue.  Read it here on page 25.

The Albuquerque Vinaigrette is Open

The new Albuquerque Vinaigrette opened last November at 1828 Central Avenue SW in west downtown. We’re hearing great things, especially from people who live in the neighborhood. I love the energy Vinaigrette has created and I’m even more proud that the neighbors love it. Thank you Erin!

Organic produce served in both the Santa Fe and Albuquerque Vinaigrettes is grown on Erin’s 10-acre farm Los Portales in Nambé. You can watch Erin talk about vegetable gardening at the 2011 Master Gardeners Association Garden Fair in Santa Fe.

The new Vinaigrette is next to the new Aveda Institute at 1816 Central Avenue SW. Built in the Art Deco Pueblo style, the historic building used to be the Sandia Theater, which opened in May 1946 but closed in 1956, and was used as an automotive shop for years. You can view a photo from 2008 here, when it was still an auto shop and here, when it was a cinema.

Here it is today.

And here’s Vinaigrette.

Repurposing these two historic buildings on Route 66 between old town and downtown has been incredibly exciting – and we know it will be a catalyst for more good things to come. We can’t wait.
